The Early Career Fellows Program, previously known as Postdoctoral Fellowships Program, aims at enabling young researchers, up to three years out of the PhD, to pursue their research and publishing plans, become part of Arab research networks and plan a research career in the Arab region. This 12-month fellowship program complements other efforts of the ACSS in supporting and promoting the social sciences in the Arab region, particularly in terms of investing in a new generation of social science researchers.
Fellowships are awarded competitively to junior scholars who are citizens or nationals of an Arab country and show high quality academic credentials and promise. There is a special interest in attracting foreign-trained Arab scholars back to the region. The ACSS research fellow should be affiliated with a research institution in the Arab region during the period of the fellowship and should have an academic mentor at this institution.
This fellowships program is open thematically and welcomes proposals in any social science field or affiliated fields as long as the proposed research and writing is firmly grounded in social science theory and methodology.
